Updated: Wednesday 21 Octomber 2020

The British Council’s priority is always to ensure the safety and well-being of our teaching centre customers, employees, and the communities in which we operate.

For this reason, we have made changes to all face-to-face activities in Romania. This includes:

  • temporarily suspending our face-to-face English courses as of Tuesday 20 October, for an initial period of 14 days, and delivering lessons for young learners and adults live online. We will be following the local government guidelines, and will amend our decision in line with the reviewed epidemiologic situation. In addition, we will be sure to inform parents of young learners and adult students about any possibility of resuming face-to-face teaching, in accordance with the updates communicated by local authorities
  • delivering our exams activities at a lower capacity in order to comply with official regulations
  • closing offices temporarily, except for the Customer Services team in Bucharest. You may now visit them by booking an appointment here.
  • reviewing our library activity. Please read here regarding our library in Bucharest. Our libraries in Iași and Cluj-Napoca remain temporarily closed (no penalty fee for late returns).

All public events have been cancelled.

We are grateful for your patience and understanding and will be in touch as soon as we have more information.
