Access information below to support your child's learning at home during semester 2 of Primary Infants 2.

IN THIS UNIT CHILDREN WILL COVER:

  • farm animals vocabulary
  • have/has got
  • I love ... ; So do I. / I don't.

THEY WILL PRACTISE:

  • talking about animals
  • talking about food they love
  • agreeing and disagreeing
  • recognising and tracing key farm animal words

YOU CAN PRACTISE WITH YOUR CHILD AT HOME IN DIFFERENT WAYS. YOU CAN:

  • Point at pictures in unit 7 and ask "What's this?" "It's a spider." 
  • Talk about food/animals you and they like or love e.g. "I like oranges." "So do I. / I don't." 
  • Think of an animal, describe it and ask them to guess it e.g. "It's got short legs and a long tail. It's small and green." Ask them to think of an animal and describe it for you to guess. 
  • Write out the key words from unit 7 and ask your child to identify them and draw a picture of the word.

  • revision and extension of prepositions
  • revision of How many ... ? There is ... / There are ...
  • regular plural nouns and common irregular plurals e.g. children, men, women

THEY WILL PRACTISE:

  • describing places in a town
  • describing the position of people / things
  • asking questions about the position of people / things
  • recognising and tracing key town words

YOU CAN PRACTISE WITH YOUR CHILD AT HOME IN DIFFERENT WAYS. YOU CAN:

  • Point to pictures in unit 8 and ask "What's this?" "It's a (shop)." "Where's the (hospital)?" "It's (in front of) (the school)." 
  • Ask questions about places in Bucharest, e.g. "Where can you eat and drink?" "Where can you watch a film?" 
  • Point to different objects in the room and ask where they are e.g. "Where's the TV?" "It's next to the bookcase."
  • Write out the key words from unit 8 and ask your child to identify them and draw a picture of the word.

Town games

In this unit children will cover:

  • clothes vocabulary
  • I've got... / He's/She's got...
  • I'm/You're/He's/She's/They're wearing...

They will practise:

  • talking about clothes and accessories 
  • saying what they and other people are wearing
  • recognising and tracing key clothes words

You can practise with your child at home in different ways. You can:

  • Point to pictures in unit 9 and ask "What's this?" "It's a shirt." 
  • Point to different characters in the book and ask "What's he/she wearing?"
  • Ask them to talk about what they and other family members are wearing.
  • Ask them to talk about their favourite clothes e.g. "My favourite T-shirt is green." Encourage them to use adjectives when they describe clothes e.g. beautiful, nice, short, long, big, small, etc. 
  • Describe a boy or girl from p65 and ask them to guess which one you are describing. Swap roles.
  • Write out the key words from unit 9 and ask your child to identify them and draw a picture of the word.

In this unit children will cover:

  • hobbies and sports vocabulary
  • I like / love / don't like ...ing.

They will practise:

  • talking about hobbies and sports
  • saying what they like, love and don't like doing
  • recognising and tracing key hobbies/sports words

You can practise with your child at home in different ways. You can:

  • Point to characters on page 72 and ask "Does Simon like ...ing?" "Yes, he does. No, he doesn't." 
  • Ask them to talk about their favourite sports and hobbies.
  • Mime a sport or a hobby and ask them to guess what it is. Swap roles.
  • Write out the key words from unit 10 and ask your child to identify them and draw a picture of the word.

Sports games

In this unit children will cover:

  • party food vocabulary
  • object pronouns: me, you, him, her, it, us, them
  • offering and requesting: "Would you like ... ?",  "Can I have ... ?", "Here you are.",  "Yes, please. / No, thank you.", "I'd like a/some ...", "What would you like to drink/eat?"

They will practise:

  • talking about party food
  • reading and talking about birthday parties
  • making offers and responding appropriately
  • ordering from a menu
  • recognising and tracing key party food words

You can practise with your child at home in different ways. You can:

  • Point to foods in unit 11 and ask them to say the words. 
  • Ask them to talk about their favourite foods and about the foods they don't like.
  • Ask them to imagine that they are in a restaurant and role play a dialogue using the phrases "Would you like ... ?",  "Can I have ... ?", "Here you are.",  "Yes, please. / No, thank you.", "I'd like a/some ...", "What would you like to drink/eat?"
  • Write out the key words from unit 11 and ask your child to identify them and draw a picture of the word.

The birthday party story

In this unit children will cover:

  • holiday vocabulary
  • revision of present continuous for present actions
  • questions with 'want to'

They will practise:

  • saying what people are doing at the present moment
  • saying what they want to do and what other people want to do
  • talking about what they like doing on holiday
  • recognising and tracing key holiday words

You can practise with your child at home in different ways. You can:

  • Point to the pictures on page 84 and ask them to say the words.
  • Point to the characters on page 85 and ask them to say what they are doing.
  • Ask them to talk about their favourite holiday places and what they like doing.
  • Take turns asking and answering "Do you want to go to Brasov/Sinaia/Constanta, etc. ?" "Yes, I do. / No, I don't."
  • Write out the key words from unit 12 and ask your child to identify them and draw a picture of the word.
