British Council Romania careers

Join us to be part of an international organisation that works in more than 100 countries and changes lives around the world.

We work in two ways – directly with individuals to transform their lives, and with governments and partners to make a bigger difference for the longer term.

You will be encouraged to pursue your personal and professional development via training, on-the-job-coaching and individual study. We offer flexible working patterns and the experience of a dynamic, international team dedicated to making a positive impact on people’s lives.

We want the British Council to be an inclusive place to work. We aim to create opportunities and reduce barriers for everyone, particularly under-represented groups. We are committed to making sure there is no unjustified discrimination in our processes for recruitment and selection, performance management and pay, and that promotion and retention is fairly granted across all our operations.

Please find below some information about the conditions of working as a Speaking Examiner for our centre.

  1. As there are no limited entries for a given session, all sessions differ in number of candidates. Therefore, it may happen that not all Speaking Examiners are needed for a specific session.
  2. Nevertheless, we will ask you to be ready for duty within the speaking test windows, either during the week or on weekends
  3. Speaking examiners are very often required to travel. British Council reimburses travel costs and per diem.
  4. To keep your active status as Speaking Examiner you must examine, attend the annual face-to-face certification meeting, and do your online certification.
  5. All Speaking Examiners are constantly monitored and evaluated by their Team Leader.
  6. The examiners will also act as supervisors for the written papers taking place in our partner schools.

Only applications that are complete and include all required supporting documents will be considered. Applicants who meet the criteria will be contacted for an interview. If you are accepted and you are not already registered as a freelance (PFA, SRL), you will need to submit the proof of registration prior to your first certification meeting.
