This interactive summer course is designed for students who want to start university confident and prepared. It helps you bridge the gap between school and university, giving you a clear sense of what to expect and how to thrive from day one. Through hands-on activities and real university-style tasks, you’ll tackle challenges that go beyond textbooks. You’ll practice research, academic writing, critical thinking, and delivering presentations that actually make an impact - without sounding like you’re reading from a script. Every exercise is designed to push you just enough so that you learn by doing, not just by listening. Along the way, you’ll pick up practical strategies and habits that make studying more effective, helping you manage your time, approach new tasks with confidence, and handle the unexpected.
By the end of the course, you won’t just “know” what university demands - you’ll have the tools, experience, and mindset to actually succeed.
Covers key academic skills including
- note taking (methods/ organisation/ structure)
- critical thinking (evaluate arguments and sources, avoid bias/ fallacies)
- research&writing (essay structure/ clarity, sources, referencing)
- giving impactful presentations
