Gain an internationally recognised Cambridge certificate for teachers and prove your expertise in English language teaching.

What is the Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test?

The TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test) is one of the top English teaching qualifications for educators teaching English to speakers of other languages, offered by Cambridge through the British Council.

This exam for English teachers consists of a flexible series of modular teaching qualifications designed to test your knowledge in specific areas of English language teaching.

Whether you are a new teacher or looking to update your skills, the TKT test provides a formal framework to prove your professional teaching knowledge.

TKT is also a good foundation if you want to study for a further qualification in teaching English, such as the CELTA or Delta.

Why take the TKT exam?

Taking this Cambridge exam for teachers opens doors to international career opportunities.

TKT is the ideal choice for pre-service teachers looking to build a strong foundation, experienced teachers who want to refresh their methodology, or professionals moving into specialised roles like TKT CLIL. By taking this qualification, you can:

  • Enhance your CV: Show current and future employers that you have a solid grasp of modern teaching methodologies.
  • Build confidence: Gain the theoretical knowledge required to manage a classroom and plan effective lessons.
  • Flexible Study Options: Each TKT module is a standalone qualification, allowing you to study at your own pace and take the tests in the order that suits you.
